Tesla Effect A Tex Murphy Adventure-RELOADED

Comments

thanks.
It’s good to see that there’s enough interest in this game to put it on The Pirate Bay in less than an hour after release. Whether people pay for the game or not, I’m happy that more people can check out the Tex Murphy games! This is truly one of the best games in a very long time, and a very excellent Tex Murphy game. Maybe it will turn out to be even better than The Pandora Directive! While Tesla Effect was in development for only 2 years, the story was written over 16 years ago. This game almost didn’t happen.

In 1999, after the sale of Access Software (which later became Big Finish Games) to Microsoft, the possibility of a sequel to the 5th Tex Murphy game, Tex Murphy: Overseer, became extremely slim. Microsoft bought Access Software for their Links LS golf games, and had no interest in the Tex Murphy franchise. The popularity and financial success of adventure games were also in a decline at this time. Chris Jones and Aaron Conners (leaders of the Tex Murphy team) tried pitching the idea for a new Tex Murphy game to Microsoft and countless other publishers, and they were always turned down. Between 1999 and 2011, the Tex Murphy team struggled to bring Tex back, and the Tex fans struggled with the fact that there may never be another Tex Murphy game again. Aaron Conners even wrote a screenplay for a feature length Tex Murphy movie that was never made. That huge span of years was very depressing for Tex Murphy fans. In 2007, Big Finish Games was founded by Chris Jones. The new company created 5 casual adventure games with the hopes of using the revenue to bring back Tex Murphy. Unfortunately, those games were not successful enough to bring back Tex. Almost all hope was lost in ever bringing back Tex Murphy...

In 2012 an opportunity presented itself. After the success of the Double Fine Adventure, the Tex Murphy team decided to try, one last time, to bring Tex back using Kickstarter. Fortunately, it was successful, and that is why we now have a new Tex game to play. Tex fans that have been waiting since 1998 for a new Tex Murphy game came in droves, and threw as much money at that Kickstarter as they could afford to. Over $650,000 was eventually raised through Kickstarter and PayPal, and the average pledge per backer was about $86. Over 50 backers even pledged $1,000 or more, and 7 very generous backers pledged $10,000. This game would not have been made if it weren’t for the 7,000 fans that backed it. The budget was also used extremely frugally and efficiently. Many team members were paid very little, and some did not even get paid at all, and worked for free. Tesla Effect is truly a labor of love.

Tesla Effect is everything fans have wanted for the last 16 years, and more. The game uses live action cut-scenes instead of a compromised use of computer graphics characters. The game has three completely different narrative paths, based on player choices, leading to five different endings. The game is huge, with over 30 locations, over 1000 steps, over 20 characters, and tons of puzzles. The atmosphere in Tesla Effect has the same familiar noir and sci-fi feel that the past games had, and has tons of classic Tex Murphy humor.

Chris Jones, Aaron Conners, and film director Adrian Carr would love to make a sequel to Tesla Effect, and Tex fans would love to play a sequel. The likelihood of a sequel is completely dependent on the financial success of Tesla Effect. If you enjoy Tesla Effect, please consider paying for it if you would like to see Tex Murphy return in a sequel. All versions of the game are just $20 and are all DRM-free, including the Steam version. If you like the game and would like to stick with the free version on here, please consider spreading the word about Tex Murphy to your friends, family, co-workers, and pets. Please tell everyone about the game using online forums, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. No matter what the download source is, the more people download Tex, the greater chance we have of getting a Tex Murphy sequel.

If you’re getting a green screen or other similar is

Sorry for the double posts. I'm new here, and had trouble posting the comments. I also can't delete past comments.
Where did my comments go? Can anyone see them?
If you’re getting a green screen or other similar issue, please make sure your drivers are up to date, and check out the Steam Guide on Steam if problems still happen.

Also keep in mind that this is the launch version, and there will be some upcoming patches. Hopefully Big Finish Games will add full gamepad support, customizable controls, fix the localization errors in languages other than English, and fix bugs. I will let you all know when they are released – I don’t want any of you to settle for an unpatched game. Please join us on the Steam forums if you have any questions about the game, or need help with puzzles or technical issues.

Tesla Effect is sold on many stores, including Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Mac Game Store, and Amazon: http://texmurphy.com/purchase.html

As a Kickstarter backer who donated much more than the $20 price for one copy, I’m not at all shocked, saddened, or even opposed to this game being on The Pirate Bay. Every game gets pirated. This site is just another place to download games. Piracy does expand the audience of a game since many people that pirate a game wouldn’t have bought it if the game wasn’t torrented. I’m actually happy that a lot of people have downloaded the game from this site so far. I am also happy to see the game on the best-selling charts for Steam, GOG, and the other sites. I paid quite a bit for the world to have the first Tex Murphy installment in 16 years. Tesla Effect is a wonderful game. I just hope it is successful enough for a sequel.

Thank you for your interest in Tesla Effect, and welcome to the wacky world of Tex Murphy!
Thanks so much for all your hard work. I will spread the word and links to your purchase sites.
